1892  It was late in October, immediately after the rutting season, that the great bands of caribou, commonly known as La Foule, mass up on the edge of the woods, and start for food and shelter afforded by the stronger growth of pines farther southward.
1932  A week or two later . . . "la foule," the great migration of cariboo from the Arctic Ocean to the woods overtook us.
1936  The greatest sight of all is of "la foule."
